"Great location, awesome cars and a relaxed vibe... The first Classic Collective event was a great day out"
Aaron Good from Volksworld magazine popped along to check out the action…
The Classic Collective was a joint concept between Cool Flo Clothing and Spikes Vintage Restorations held at a laid back and very unique venue in July in Cobham Surrey. The walled garden enclosing the whole outdoor space made for an awesome spot to display the invited selection of show cars. Scott Carter of CoolFlo explained, “We wanted to open the mid-summer one-day meet to all sorts of cool classics.” He continued, “Obviously sticking to the air-cooled roots it did swing to a 70% VW-based vehicle display uniquely lined up in a circular formation.”
We were blown away by some of the vehicles that attended, which included Aston Martins, a 1927 Rolls Royce, a few Porsches and a freshly built gold hot rod belonging to Buzz Burrell (who drove it up from Devon just for the day). We should also mention Bart Maertens and David Ce who both drove show cars over from Belgium – what a great effort! These beautiful classics made for a great display, and the vibe was perfect thanks to a selection of guest DJs playing tunes for the duration. It was a blisteringly hot day (reaching 30 degrees Celsius) and there was not a cloud in the sky – clearly the show gods approved of this event! All donations gathered on the day were passed on to the British Heart Foundation, as this was purely a non-profit affair. Well done all at CoolFlo and SVR – you certainly know how to put on a good show.
The first ever Classic Collective meet achieved everything we wanted it to. Sunny skies, chilled vibes and cool rides blended together in this unique venue to create an awesome atmosphere. Thanks to all the owners who’s rides made the Classic Collective a thing to marvel. And thanks to Spikes Vintage Restorations for helping turn our joint concept into a reality!
